AMAZING GRACE

Now available to book for Spring & Summer 2026!
Join us on a voyage of discovery as we tell the incredible story of John Newton – the sailor and slave-trader who went on to write the famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’. Watch Newton’s journey of faith unfold as he battles the high sea, lost love and his own destructive self and eventually finds himself at the mercy of a compassionate God.
A full-length production, this show runs at 2 hours including a 20 minute interval, and is furnished with sound, lights and innovative stage set, in true Oddments’ fashion. We also have a 1-hour adaptation suitable for secondary schools and prison services.
Oddments want to see lives changed and hearts challenged through their productions, and we would love to work with your church, school or prison to bring a successful event to your community. Please see more details of what we offer below.
Our prison ministry is covered by the kind donations of our supporters, meaning we can bring you drama free of charge!

CHURCHES
There are two options available for churches to book this production. For both options, we will deliver the same full-scale, professional theatre show with exciting stage set and costumes.
Included in both booking fees:
- Highly-rated, professional theatre production
- Lighting and sound – we bring all of our own equipment needed
- Advertising pack* to help you promote your event
- Online ticket sales
We also ask for a contribution towards fuel costs. We split this over tours with multiple venues and it usually works out at £25 – £40 per venue.
Where possible, we ask that the team are provided with a meal on the day of the performance. In some cases, organisers are asked whether hosts can be found to put up the team when we are travelling to another venue the next day as part of a tour. This can all be discussed at the point of booking. For full terms and conditions, please enquire.
Booking Option 1
Cost: £750 (could be £200!)
- First £550 of ticket sales go to the organiser, to help reclaim the bulk of your booking fee. After this, all ticket sales go to Oddments.
- Ticket costs are set nationally at £14 in advance, £16 on the day and £10 for 12-18 year olds. Organisers may subsidise tickets, but Oddments will charge you the difference.
Booking Option 2
Cost: £950
- You pay £950 booking fee which allows you to provide free entrance or charge any price for tickets without having to subsidise. You take any ticket sales you make. A great opportunity for an outreach event for your community!

CHURCH SERVICES
We offer a one hour version of this show for use in church services.
Covering all the story’s main themes, it is performed with a smaller stage set and no stage lights.
This option is designed to allow you to share this story with your church congregation without charging for entry. We do not supply an advertising pack and you should not charge for tickets.
We also ask for a contribution towards fuel costs. We split this over tours with multiple venues and it usually works out at £25 – £40 per venue.
Booking Fee
Cost: £525 for one show, or £600 for two shows
- To book two shows, they must be on the same day in the same venue. The offer is subject to discussion with Oddments regarding the time between the two shows. It is primarily offered for churches with two congregations, e.g. a 9am and 11am service.
Where possible, we ask that the team are provided with a meal on the day of the performance. In some cases, organisers are asked whether hosts can be found to put up the team when we are travelling to another venue the next day as part of a tour. This can all be discussed at the point of booking. For full terms and conditions, please enquire.
SCHOOLS
This production is suitable for secondary school children.
We bring a one-hour adaptation of Amazing Grace, with stage set, costumes and our own sound equipment, to perform to your students.
You can book this production for £525 – or have two shows on the same day for only £600!
PRISONS
Oddments Theatre are experienced at taking drama into prisons and have worked with many prisons across the country.
Whilst we often take adaptations of our longer productions, such as Amazing Grace, into prisons, we are currently touring a show written especially for our prison ministry, entitled ‘My Story’, instead.
All our prison work aims to share the message of God’s love, forgiveness and restoration. You can find out more about ‘My Story’ here.
Due to the generous giving of our supporters, we can offer this production to prisons free of charge! Please enquire for more details or to book us.
