+ Freelance Actors

We’re currently recruiting actors for tours in Autumn 2025 – Spring 2026.
Productions: ‘Amazing Grace’ is a well-established, 90 minute show telling the story of John Newton, a slave-trader who experienced God on the high seas and it transformed his life! He became a minister and hymn-writer, going on to write the famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’.
‘My Story’ is a short production written especially for our prison ministry. It follows the life of Alex, who got caught up with crime and ended up in prison. Finding faith by visiting the chaplaincy, he slowly manages to turn his life around.
Dates: The first tour runs from 29th September – 30th November and the second tour covers March 2026, with a few rehearsal dates potentially sitting in late Febrauary (all dates TBC in final contract). We are looking for actors who available for one, or both, of these tours.
Working with us: We are a touring theatre company, with small teams of around 4 actors. Rehearsals are held in Yeovil, Somerset, and accomodation can often be provided as part of your contract. Life on tour consists of staying in host houses, driving to venues, setting-up, performing and packing-down. We perform in churches, schools and prisons, and the hours we work vary depending on the venue/event. A driving license is preferable, but not essential, for this role.
What we look for: Whilst we do look for great actors, we also look for people who will get behind our mission and demonstrate our values in all aspects of tour, not just the performances. It is an occuational requirement (under section 9 of the Equality Act 2010) for our actors to be practising Christians, so that the message they are sharing aligns with their own beliefs. We also look for people who are reliable, gracious and good team players, with a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt quickly to different situations.
Why apply? Working with Oddments is an awesome opportunity to combine theatre and mission, sharing God’s love and forgiveness with people in churches, schools and even prisons. We won’t pretend that touring isn’t hard work, but it is rewarding work too, and good fun thanks to a great team and some brilliant productions to perform.
To Apply: Send your CV, Application Form (download below), headshot and a showreel (if you have one) to recruitment@oddments-theatre.co.uk. We operate a rolling recruitment process, interviewing and auditioning candidates as they apply, meaning we could fill places on our next tour at any time.
Please click here if you are interested in our voluntary internship scheme, whereby you can spend a year as part of our performance team, and gain crucial experience behind-the-scenes of the theatre company!
